This years Weymouth trip will take place from the 7th to the 11th of April, that’s 5 nights away. Number of nights is flexible we should be able to accommodate those only wanting to stay for fewer nights. As many of you will know Weymouth offers very safe sailing on flat water in Portland Harbour, though its best if you have had some experience of open water sailing. Wind is gernerally much less gusty than we are used to and water is usually quite flat. We will be arranging for GPS units for those that want to participate in a little bit of speed competition
We will be staying at Pebble Bank Caravan park which can accommodate us in static vans sleeping 4 or 6 (no one shares a double bed unless they want to!!) or they can come in their own campervans and stay on the site.
We will be making use of the facilities at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for parking, launching, snacks and showers. The club reimburse members for the cost of launching. We usually, when we get there, whether to go for the weekly rate or to pay by the day, based on the forecast. You’ll keep your receipts and we’ll collect them at the end of the stay then refund you the money.
Accommodation, last year was £66 for 5 nights, plus factor the cost for food and getting there. If you stay for fewer nights you might pay a little more per night. Breakfasts will be in the caravans and evening meals will either be out at a pub or fish and chip shop, or we can get a takeaway. We usually arrange a ‘food pack’ for each caravan so that breakfasts, tea, coffee, cake, biscuits, toilet paper, kitchen roll, cleaning stuff, etc. are all covered and you will split the cost based on the cost of the ‘food pack’ (each caravan gets the same pack), and how many nights you stay. Simple really, though some people found it difficult to comprehend last time!.
