Project Windsurf-UK, a brand new initiative dedicated to windsurfers across the country, was officially launched last weekend (3-4 September) at the National Windsurfing Festival at Hayling Island.
The initiative, created by the RYA, aims to promote windsurfing clubs & groups in the UK, and link individual windsurfers with these groups, encouraging more people go windsurfing more often, linked with the added social aspect of the club/group environment.
Seven club members made the trip down to Hayling Island for the weekend. The new gazebo was the centre of our encampment and was a much appreciated shelter from the heavy rain of Sunday morning. We got a little write up of the Tiree trip in this months mag. Great publicity for a great trip……
In the past club trips have been fairly local, places like Wells, Bridlington etc. This time we decided to be a little more adventurous and to sponsor the trip with a view to getting a big response. We certainly got that, 14 members in total made the journey, the biggest turnout for a long time. The destination was the island with the UK’s biggest reputation……

The camera finally caught up with Kevin Scott and stepdaughter Hope at the Jim Collis training weekend at Rutland Water. Welcome to the club both of you.
Peter is a new member, we managed to snap him at the Ant Baker clinic held at Nobels Demo. Paul is an experienced windsurfer and a returning member, welcome back.
After a day of mucking around on surf boards and snorkelling, today was our last chance to get out on the water before we return.
The group split into two for the days sailing.
